one of the most memorable and significant passage is when Winston says 2+2= 5. this was said by Winston in the end of the book. Winston who never liked the governmnet and who was agaisnt it found himself changd after the physical tortutre done by Obrien who had the exact same situation as Winston years ago. Winston got caught by Obrien and went in the Ministry of Love where he never visited inside since he wasn't allowed to. However when he gets there he sees that no windows are present but also the lights are not present. all seems like a jail which is the right answer. during the torture and the way Obrien move the power of the machine which torrture Winston, he now becomes able to change mind slowly. although he resisted until the 2 first stages, where he is only left one problem which is about Julia meaning that he never betrayed Julia yet. Obrien agrees with Winston and so move Winston in the final stage where is numbered as a 101 (room) there rats comes to him and bites his ears and eats the blood of Winston which is making even harder for winston to resist. in a less than few minutes, he yells to do it to Julia not to me. this becomes as a big event for him and Obrien since now everything is set up for both of them. Winston becomes free after Obrien's physical torture and for Winston it proved that he was a wrong guy. later on he meets Julia and finds that they are very different. Julia who used to be thin in waist and beatiful. she now seems as a little tired and gained a little weigh. she first say to Winston that she betrayed him and soon Winston also say the same words. likewise, both now doesn's have any sentiment left to be loved once again. the way that Obrien used his force to Winston changed a lot of things. Winston now is became able to listen to the government and not thinking of the future world. he is trying to understand without thinking deeply but living in a simple manner and discrete. lastly, the thing he says is i love Big Brother menaing the (govenrment's leader name)and also writes 2+2= 5. in the beginning of the book he said that 2+2= 4 and didn;t know why that was 5 he now got it... that he needs to listen to the government. if they say is 5 then is a 5
